TRANSEUROPA workshops en Madrid

Facilitadorxs profesionalxs procedentes de toda Europa organizarán workshops de un día con diferentes estructuras dependiendo de los participantes. Algunos serán en inglés, y algunos en español. Los talleres tendrán lugar en Madrid los jueves 26 y viernes 27 de octubre. La fecha límite para solicitar becas ha pasado el 30 de julio, pero si se estás en Madrid o estás dispuestx a financiar tu viaje y alojamiento, puedes registrarte para participar. 

Algunos de nuestrxs participantxs que reciben becas para asistir a todo el Festival recibirán el almuerzo durante los días del taller. Si quieres comer con nosotrxs, podrás hacerlo dando una pequeña contribución en el momento.

For many people in Europe an exclusive collective memory and a feeling of belonging to a «nation» plays a key role within their self-understanding. For a number of regions this type of perception goes along with the victimisation of the collective self: the world outside the respective collective appears hostile and is identified as consisting of (potential) perpetrators. What needs are expressed by this type of self-understanding? How can we narrate the past to encounter these needs and offer an alternative approach?

Here is a chance to move beyond the theory of intersectionality by finding ways to practice social justice organising with more rigour and competence. We will think about how better connect our struggles in our fight towards long-term change, and take steps to make your activism -and your life- more intersectional. Through this workshop participants will gain a working understanding of intersectional organising; they will create a set of commitments for relating to their own work/life and will access tools and exercises to build their confidence in this area.

Está especialmente dirigido a activistas y personas que trabajan en colectivos sociales, que quieran mejorar sus prácticas digitales y repensar sobre estos temas. It aims at creating a dialogue platform to facilitate integration of new arrivals and the local community members. During two rounds of workshops in Gothenburg, more than 20 participants shared their stories. A workshop by and for all who want to work with artists, critics, curators and theorists who have to flee their country of origin. These art practitioners are “at risk” for a reason – they are living on the rough edges of the permissible in their home countries: artistically, culturally, socially, politically. Building a local AR-Residency network involves artistic, activist, legal, psychological and curatorial partners and infrastructures.

The research and networking project “Funding the Cooperative City” aims at exploring the emerging landscape of collaborative economy initiatives: Faced with austerity measures, privatisation and financialisation community groups and citizen initiatives started to organise their own services and spaces. These initiatives are increasingly using local communities, crowd resources and new, ethical financial actors to invest in their activities. In this workshop participants will not only  learn about these emerging community finance initiatives  but will be supported in evaluating their own economic and financial needs, and identify their potential partners. The examples of Spanish municipalism exemplify that cities are at the forefront of democratic innovation and resistance against austerity politics: Changing relationships between active citizenship, social movements and administration lead to new ways of doing politics. After a short introduction we will discuss on how to use and further develop a digital mapping tool for cities of change which has been co-created by European Alternatives. How can we understand the mapping itself as a process of commoning and use synergies between existing networks to gather information on examples of new municipalism?
